Three festive coffee recipes that will put a jingle in your step.

The holiday season is deemed the most wonderful time of the year as family and friends gather for memorable festivities. Celebrate festive season with Mi Casa’s festive coffee recipes! The warming flavours of these brews will surely match the cheerful holiday spirit. They are perfect for a morning pick-me-up or as an after-dinner treat. Get ready for mugs of indulgent homemade coffee that will warm the hearts of all we love.

Here are just three of our favourite holiday Coffee recipes;

Gingerbread Latte

Mi Casa’s Salted Caramel Flavoured Coffee carries caramelised notes and biscuity aroma. You can taste hints of vanilla custard, caramel and almonds. It’s as though you are eating gingerbread cake on Christmas morning!

This Gingerbread Latte comprises a shot of Mi Casa’s Flavoured coffee and delicious spices every kitchen cupboard will have.

Here’s what you will need:

  • 40ml shot of espresso 
  • ½ cup steamed milk 
  • 1 tbs molasses or maple syrup or honey (your preference)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract 
  • ½ tsp freshly ground ginger 
  • A pinch of nutmeg

In your cup of choice, pour and mix a 40ml shot of espresso with molasses, vanilla extract, and ground ginger. Pour in steamed milk.

Now, for the grand finale — sprinkle some nutmeg on top of the heated/frothy milk. The toasty, nutty nuances make the drink so delicious.

Peppermint Mocha

Chocolate and peppermint is a classic combination – and for good reason! You can’t go wrong with this holiday classic.

 Our Amarula Cream Flavoured Coffee and English Toffee Flavoured Coffee make this mocha treat sensational. Be daring and try blend of both. This is what the Mi Casa elves are drinking at our office already!

 Ingredients:

  • 120ml milk
  • 225ml coffee you can either (French press) OR use 3 x 40ml espresso shot + 100ml hot water
  • 30g bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract
  • Whipped cream OR nice chunky spoon of double cream (there’s no dieting on Christmas! Its against holiday rules.)

Method:

  • In a saucepan add in all of your ingredients except the peppermint.
  • Stir and bring the ingredients to a simmer. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  • Take the saucepan off the heat, add the peppermint, pour into your mug.
  • Decorate with freshly whipped cream and sprinkles.

 

Orange Spiced Coffee

Need an after-dinner coffee with some to match the festive mood? Try this blend with nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and orange zest. Perfect, too, for Christmas morning.

Our top picks are our French Vanilla Flavoured Coffee and Creamy Hazelnut Flavoured Coffee. They both pair perfectly with the spices in this recipe. Your home will be filled with the rich aroma of holidays. Hints of hazelnut and vanilla uplifted with  indulgent spices will have you coming back cup after cup.

 Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp ground coffee 
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 pitted dates
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 2 cloves
  • Orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon orange liqueur (optional) 

Method:

  • Put the ground coffee, cinnamon stick and dates in a large French press. Add the ground nutmeg, cloves and orange zest, then pour over 400ml freshly boiled water
  • Stir gently with a wooden spoon to combine, then leave to steep for 4 mins. Slowly push down the plunger and serve.
